Reading another point of view is interesting. Mr. R Vaidyanathan has forgotten to mention many points like
> replacement of CAT exams by some .....
> double student intake
>courses more in tendem with Indian ...whatever
> teaching hours to be increased
( where does it leave the time for research and projects ..... In IITs they do manage with lower fee, and get projects, fundings, research and what not ... but see the teaching workload most of the Profs got.
> if IIM alumini are defaulters, subsidize their education ( noval solution to a problem).
>OFF The mark, but it seems astrology will be introduced in IITs too!

There are hundres of questions like this which Mr. R Vaidyanathan tries to romanticize with ancient FAKIRS and what not! If he is dreaming of glorious period of ancient India, why not he remember Adi Shankaracharya. Even he was unable to turn the clock back. He was merely able to reform not recreate that ancient magic.

Why bystanders are interested is very basic and simple: It will be done with his / her money.

Mr. Joshi should concentrate on Primary education, if he wants to play with tax payers money. We won't mind it at all. He must leave these well managed institutions to their Akas.

In the end, sorry for taking so much space on your blog.

Please visit my blog:

The latest entry is on the IIM fee-cut controversy.

Also, since I'm new to the blogging scene, I'd appreciate if anybody can give me tips on how to get the blog noticed by the world out there. blog-city says an RSS script is generated for me, but how do I get bots and newsreaders to notice it? Thanks in advance.

i think as an american desi- the fees are cheap even without the cuts- the education is stellar- but my poor kid could never get in- he just cannot compete with the real desis.imagine we all thought that america was the ultimate destination. perhaps it still is- but only after we have the indian up-bringing and indian style education.

btw- i loved your last post.

I liked point # 7 and think that is the underlying reason for quality more than anything else. A very well written post, if I may say so and the reason why I still check your blogs. The lesser said about your last post the better. :) It is nice to find an IIM alumnus who does not cry murder at the fee cuts.
